National artist, Deborah Cavenaugh painted a custom narrative artwork for auction by Wrightsville Beach Museum's Lumina Daze.  Cavenaugh, who at age 40 picked up her family and moved to the Wilmington area, began painting that same year when her children gave her a Mother's Day gift of paints they bought in a toy store.  She made her art career painting works that celebrated the good life her family found here.  "The Wrightsville Beach area was my home for 20 years.  I raised my family here, and here, I discovered I could paint!" she says.  "Creating this piece of art for Lumina Daze was such a joy.  It is a painting about life on Wrightsville Beach - right out on sand and down by the water - filled with folks enjoying that life," Cavenaugh included signs and symbols of our seaside favorites from restaurants to businesses to clubs to the last commercial shrimper throughout the creation, culminating in what she calls, "a sort of pictorial memory of life on our island."  The museum's houses feature prominently in the scene.

Deborah's works sell all over the world and are known for their colorful representation of what is good in life.  Cavenaugh has two Azalea Festival posters, a North Carolina Oyster Festival poster and art for many other community and charity events in her portfolio.  More can be learned about the artist at www.deborahcavenaugh.com .
